The Fibris textile workshop in the heart of Villabassa. Here, everything revolves around fibres, yarns, fabrics and craftsmanship – and the people who have passed this knowledge down through generations.
Entering the workshop means stepping into a world that today seems almost forgotten. A world where wool becomes yarn, yarn becomes fabric, and fabric becomes something created with your own hands.
Today, we buy clothes with just a few clicks. In the past, every piece of fabric was precious. Before a garment could be made, fibres had to be collected, washed, carded, spun, dyed and woven. It was a process that required time, patience and great skill. The Fibris Textile Workshop brings this knowledge to life. Visitors gain fascinating insights into the history, culture and techniques of textile production and can experience firsthand how simple natural materials are transformed into something valuable.
At the workshop, history is not only told – it is experienced.
What does freshly carded wool feel like? How does a spinning wheel work? And how are loose fibres transformed into a strong thread? During guided tours and workshops, visitors can discover and try out many of these traditional processes themselves. It quickly becomes clear just how much patience and craftsmanship are behind even a single metre of fabric.
